WHPC Spiritual Formation Devotionals Week 34

Week  34          Day 1
Spiritual Formation Devotionals

The Lord is a stronghold for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble.  Psalm 9:9

Prayer - God of refuge and strength protect me this day.  Be with those oppressed by sickness, fear or injustice.  If troubles come close surround those crying for help.  Teach me to walk into this day with courage and with gratitude. Show me how to be a stronghold for those you bring into my life. Amen.

Week  34         Day 2
Spiritual Formation Devotionals

For the needy shall not always be forgotten, and the hope of the poor shall not perish forever. Psalm 9:18

Prayer - O Lord, as I rise to greet the new day you’ve created, may I pause to wonder at the love that brought this day into being. May my eyes open to the needy in this world—in my very neighborhood. May my heart be pierced with cries for your equality and justice. May my hands move with compassion to do your work. May I be moved to make a difference in just one life today. And may I ever live in your will—and you in me. Amen.

Week 34          Day 3
Spiritual Formation Devotionals

Rise up, O Lord! Do not let mortals prevail; let the nations be judged before you. Put them in fear, O Lord; let the nations know that they are only human. Psalm 9:19–20

Prayer - Holy and powerful Lord of All, forgive the ridiculous arrogance of my confidence in my own strength and ability. Humble me and help me understand that which is lasting and worthwhile comes only through you. Help me today to exude the kindness and mercy you have shown me and to leave judgement to you. Amen.

Week  34          Day 4
Spiritual Formation Devotionals

Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. Psalm 100:4

Prayer - Almighty God, thank you for giving me this new day. May I know that it is actually a chance to walk through the gate to your Kingdom. May my heart feel free of worry on this day as I feel the presence of your love around me. As I journey forward, awake in me the vision of how beautiful this day will be. Use me for a purpose greater than any I can imagine. Put praise on my lips, and may others see and hear that praise in my life. Amen.

Week  34          Day 5
Spiritual Formation Devotionals

In his hands are the depths of the earth; the heights of the mountains are his also. The sea is his, for he made it: for his hands formed the dry land.        Psalm 95:4–5

Prayer - Creator God, I remember today that all Creation was breathed by you. May I remember also who you are. What you desire. The life you’ve given me to walk in relationship with you. To care for your world, as you would. To care for your people, as you would. May the way I walk through your creation today make you smile. And, may all your creation sing a new song. One that is pleasing to your ears. Amen.
