WHPC Spiritual Formation Devotionals Week 33

Week  33          Day 1
Spiritual Formation Devotionals

For you have been my help, and in the shadow of your wings I sing for joy.
My soul clings to you; your right hand upholds me.
Psalm 63:7-8

Prayer - Protecting God, no matter what I face this day, may the memories of your steadfast love keep me strong. When shadows gather may I feel instead the protection of your wing hovering above and around me. Teach me to cling to you in all that I feel and experience today. Hold me close. Amen

Week  33         Day 2
Spiritual Formation Devotionals

…that they should not be like their ancestors, a stubborn and rebellious generation, a generation whose heart was not steadfast, whose spirit was not faithful to God. Psalm 78:8

Prayer - God of every age, as I look at my life, I can see my sins and shortcomings. When I consider the history of the world, I can see sin at a broader level—the injustice of many centuries. We live in tremendous need of your grace. Forgive me for my part in the pain of the world. Redeem and renew me, O God. Replace my heart of stone with a heart of flesh, a steadfast and faithful heart, so that I may receive love and give it away, in freedom and joy, and do my part in the restorative work of your kingdom. For the sake of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Week 33          Day 3
Spiritual Formation Devotionals

He split rocks open in the wilderness and gave them drink abundantly as from the deep. He made streams come out of the rock and caused waters to flow down like rivers. Psalm 78:15-16

Prayer - Creator God, you are so powerful that I am not sure why you are even concerned about a regular person like me. May I remember that in all the goodness and gifts I see around and within me, that you love me without condition. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Week  33          Day 4
Spiritual Formation Devotionals

Have mercy on us Lord, have mercy on us, for we have endured no end to contempt. We have endured no end of ridicule from the arrogant, of contempt from the proud. Psalm 123:3–4

Prayer - Merciful God, you have created us in your image, but each as a unique individual. It is an amazing blessing to have been able to become part of your flock. Wipe away from me any contempt, arrogance, and pride which I might display and make me grateful for your mercy. I ask that you open the eyes of all who don’t yet know and follow you. Amen.

Week  33          Day 5
Spiritual Formation Devotionals

Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us, and prosper for us the work of our hands—O prosper the work of our hands! Psalm 90:17

Prayer - Sovereign Lord, we are on this earth for such a brief time. Once we respond to your invitation to trust in Jesus alone as our Lord and Savior, you promise us that you are about the work of transforming us from hopeless sinners into blessed saints, your beloved sons and daughters; such an enormous project, so little time! You have laid out work for each of us to help bring about your Kingdom here on earth. Enable us to see that work, help us surrender our will to yours, and empower us to do that which you have asked of us to your glory. We humbly thank you for the joy and blessing that work produces in us and in this broken world. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.
