Session 6 - God Gets You

For our high priest [Jesus) is able to understand our weaknesses. He was tempted in every way that we are, but he did not sin. Let us, then, feel very sure that we can come before God's throne where there is grace. There we can receive mercy and grace to help us when we need it.

•       Heb. 4:15-16

•       The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

•       John 1:14

•       The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities: all things have been created through him and for him.

•       Col.1:15-16

•       God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

•       2 Cor. 5:21

Group Questions

•       1.  What are some ways that people tend to picture God?

•       2.  Does your concept of God include times when you think He is too remote to access?  Perhaps too busy to have time or interest in your problems?

•       3.  Is it difficult to reconcile Jesus is both human and divine?

•       4.  This chapter deals with a promise made in Heb. 4:15-16; that because of Jesus we can come before God’s throne and receive mercy and grace when we need it.  Does it matter?

•       God’s promise:  Our high priest is able to understand our weaknesses.

•       Our promise:  I will draw near to God with confidence that He hears me and understands me.
